Elda Calabrese was born in the south of Italy in 1989. She grew up in Cersosimo (Basilicata), a small town located very close to the beautiful Pollino National Park. She graduated from Classical High School Diploma at Liceo Classico Isabella Morra; after that, she decided to move to Ferrara, where she got a master degree in Pharmacy.

During her life and school plans, she developed a particular charm for arts, that made her think off the “conventional” path and see things from different point of view. She joined several exhibitions in Ferrara with the crew “Giovani Artisti Ferraresi”.This is how she started to think that art can let people feel free and let their mind travel through the deepest fantasies.

Elda’s style reminds us of “Surrealism”, the italian literary current, where unconsciousness and fantasy takes over, and dreams come to life.

Her dynamic stroke of brush also brings us back to the Impressionists, as she makes her characters even more alive. Also, it’s easy to see how, in many paintings, contrasts of colours enhance the characters. This is clear if we look at the strong contrasts she paints: dark blue, yellow ocher and gold, green and red, red and blue.
