On Friday, September 29, 2023 at 6.30 pm, will be inaugurated at Galleria La Nica in Rome "Trasparenze – Oltre la visione", the first Roman solo exhibition of Sicilian artist Giovanni Viola, who will take part in the eighth edition of Rome Art Week, the capital's contemporary art week.
Giovanni Viola's works on display, all oils on canvas and pastels on paper, represent the most recent outcomes of his constant reflection on landscape. A landscape undoubtedly familiar to the artist, who prefers the views closest to him, such as those of the countryside and the sea of the Val di Noto in Sicily, only sometimes diverting his attention from his Island to pay homage to other realities, always internalized by his sensitive eye and elegant artistic expressiveness.
The title "Trasparenze – Oltre la visione" ("Transparencies – Beyond the vision") stems from a suggestion conveyed by Giovanni Viola's artworks in the exhibition, mainly seascapes, in which the artist seems to investigate the concept of transparency both from a literal, thus physical, concrete point of view, and from a more metaphorical, almost exegetical one.
"Trasparenze – Oltre la visione" curated by Cristina Liscaio and Maria Vittoria Marchetta, will be on view from September 29 to November 4, 2023. The catalog will be published by Grafiche Turato.
