ALETHEIA

On October 27, 2022 TIBA COMMUNITY presents the exhibition ALETHEIA with the presence of artists Simon De Martino, Stefano Frascarelli, Jacopo Natoli, Gloria Rech, Truth13 and Raffaele Vitto curated by Niccolò Giacomazzi at the Società Geografica Italiana in Rome.

"The souls that by fate drink safe waters and long forgetfulness on the wave of the river Lete" so recites the Aeneid in Canto VI (714-715) refer to the river whose waters, whoever drinks, He loses his memory and falls into oblivion also mentioned in the X book of the Republic of Plato. The mythological name Lete comes from the Greek letheia (λανθάνω) which means "to be hidden". Preceded in turn by a private α becomes Aletheia (ἀλήθεια), a Greek word translated in different ways such as «openness», «unveiling», «revelation» or «truth». In the essay entitled "The Origin of the Work of Art", Heidegger describes his role as an earthly means of opening a compensation to the appearance of things. The work of art is, therefore, an 'event of truth" and coincides with what society calls Mondo in an alternation of concealment and unveiling, which constitutes the essence of the work of art as an event of truth. Truth understood, therefore, as «unveiling», aletheia to be precise.

Emergency, the global hydrological cycle is accelerating and currently 5 billion human beings on about 7.8 billion already experience the consequences of periods of increasingly long water shortages that from 1950 to today affect the Earth, but world population exposed to extreme drought is bound to increase rapidly. Over the past two decades, it has been found, from data collected by the GRAVE (Gravity Recovery And Climate Experiment) satellite monitoring system, that the overall rate of loss of available fresh water mass (glaciers and aquifers) continues to increase. Anthropogenic climate change is affecting the extent, pervasiveness and severity of drought (especially agricultural and hydrological) in increasingly large areas of the planet. Yet the objective of the Paris agreement to limit the rise in the global average temperature below 1.5 ºC has been disregarded. Global emissions are expected to peak before 2025 and to be reduced by 43% by 2030 alone. The 196 most influential governments in the world have negotiated and planned, to avoid exceeding this threshold, a strategy that provides for the paradoxical conclusion of exceeding the same threshold within the next ten years. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has proclaimed the "collective suicide of humanity". In this context, where public opinion is currently heavily conditioned by an establishment narrative that continues to distort the facts and be demonstrably unfavorable to react effectively to the climate emergency, The direct reaction of the international scientific community can only be decisive. Researchers and academics studying climate change and biodiversity loss around the world have begun to form rebellion groups to uncover, disseminate and share what is currently being hidden.

The creative collective of TIBA COMMUNITY, believes that art is a valid means to open the truth, working and putting in dialogue the exhibited works with the latest studies reported by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) thanks to the collaboration and consultancy of Scientist Rebellion Italia. Aletheia is an artistic project carried out simultaneously with other initiatives in Europe and is designed to support and promote the international awareness campaign "Unite Against Climate Failure" currently in place.
