For the Rome Art Week 2021, the journalist and curator Loredana De Pace, in collaboration with the cultural association NESSUNO [press] and the cultural dissemination platform PhotoCoach, presents the work of "Fortza Paris" by photographer Marco Cheli. The author who will converse with Loredana De Pace will be hosted on NESSUNO's streaming platform [press].
In the week of Rome Art Week 2021, on October 29 at 7 pm PhotoCoach and NESSUNO [press] will host an online meeting with the photographer Marco Cheli who, in conversation with the journalist and curator Loredana De Pace, will tell us about the genesis of his "Fortza Paris" project.
Marco Cheli's shots are strengthened by a strong aesthetic research and geometry in the visual composition, typical elements of the world he comes from, that of graphics. His encounter with photography came with a time: so from graphic design he comes to discover photojournalism, a genre of which he appreciates the idea of the story and how a photographic corpus works because it becomes of a larger scheme.
Marco Cheli unites these two worlds in his story in pictures "Fortza Paris", a project created halfway between his hometown, Siena, and the region of Sardinia; in half, exactly how the life of the protagonists "on horseback" is divided, because they are lived between two lands - in a metaphorical as well as concrete sense - now united by a bond that has lasted for more than sixty years.
The project aims to show the history of the Palio di Siena in an alternative way, far from stereotypes, modern. The 360 ° story starts from the winter season up to the triumph in Piazza del Campo, revealing a unique reality, made not only of races, jockeys and horses, but also of the beauty of a micro-world, of a culture and a traction that is now centuries old.
