Monday 26th October, the first collective exhibition of Risma Bookshop dedicated to the first Book Lab of Pigneto.
In January 2020 began the journey through the books of the Book Lab, a shared reading workshop curated by Camilla Carabini and Serena Dovì, one meeting per month in which seven books were chosen, read and discussed and now reinterpreted also graphically.
At 8.30 p.m., seven Italian artists will show their vision of the novels hosted in the meetings of Risma Bookshop, the new bookshop of Pigneto specialized in comics and illustration by the bookmaker Serena Dovì. COVER UP is the first group show realized on the experience of the Book Lab and is part of the art exhibition Rome Art Week 2020.
Medea by Christa Wolf, Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Rayuela by Julio Cortázar, The Old Man Reading Love Novels by Luis Sepúlveda, Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, A Funny Thing I'll Never Do More than David Foster Wallace, The Unmistakable Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender, become the palettes of seven artists who use literature to create new visions following the curatorial idea of Rossana Calbi.
A project, signed by the Strange Opera association, which involves Marco About, Oscar "Odd" Diodoro, Fabrizio Di Baldo, Gerlanda Di Francia, King Pritt, Lisinka and Daria Petrilli, seven artists who with seven different techniques have used paper to redesign contemporary literature transformed into a moment of encounter and stimulus.

Marco About was born in 1977 in Rome.
He graduated in artistic photography at the state institute of art, but he did not cultivate for a long time the passion for the camera.
After finishing his studies, he dedicated himself to drawing, graphics and illustration as a freelance, collaborating with various Roman realities and not.
After the experience as a freelance worker, he was hired by the screen printing company Straight To Hell, based in Rome; from that moment on, his love for the screen printing technique in all its applications grew.
Conciliating work and free time, he focuses on poster art, making contacts with many bands of the Italian and foreign punk scene.
The need to have his own craft workshop, pushed him to move with his artist friend Irene Rinaldi, in a studio: Studio Supplì.
Since 2003 he also found the time to dedicate himself to exhibitions in places like Palazzo Chianini-Vincenzi in Arezzo, Galleria Spazioinmostra in Milan, Madre Museo d'Arte Contemporanea in Naples, Palazzo Pitti in Florence, Biennale di Arte contemporanea in Bari, Centro Camerale Alessi in Perugia, Coffeeshirt in Ancona and in Rome at the Casa dell'Architettura, MondoPop International Gallery, Parione 9 and several stores with exhibition spaces. He presents his works in France at the True Hate Art Gallery in La Rochelle and in California at the Distinction Gallery.
He has also collaborated with the artistic collective M.U.Ro., and is part of the collective Skate Heart Roma, Exit Voto and Lost People, the latter projects realized with the association Strange Opera.
She has a small brand of embroidered patches TOPPATCHE, in collaboration with Rossana Calbi.
Fabrizio Di Baldo is a Roman illustrator, graduated from the International School of Comics and Graphic Design at the European Institute of Design).
He lives and works in Rome as art director and illustrator. He has collaborated with important national and international publishers, illustrating books for children and teenagers for Edizioni EL, Il Castoro, HarperCollins, Miles Kelly, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Salariya. Recently he was a finalist in the Livio Sossi-Lucca Comics Editorial Illustration Award and second in the City of the Sun Competition for which he is working on the 2020 advent calendar.
After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, Gerlanda Di Francia began her artistic career in the world of pictorial decoration, then took the road of tattooing, which she interrupted after a few years to build the cultural association HulaHoop in Rome in which she organized events related to all artistic expressions.
In his background there are numerous group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, personal projects in many Italian cities. The most recent ones: at the Museum of Urban Art in Turin, Nostos/Ritorno, curated by Togaci Gaudiano,
TRANS-Si♭, in collaboration with the composer Luca Tomassini, curated by Rossana Calbi at the Galleria Parione9 in Rome.
In Paris participated in the group exhibitions Methamorphose at the Arludik Galerie and Mail Art Exhibition at Slow Galerie.
In the United States he has exhibited at La Luz De Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles, Wonderland Gallery in Las Vegas, Revolution Gallery, New York and Gallery 30 South in Pasadena (CA).
He developed an artist residency project at amaneï in Salina (Aeolian Islands) which ended with the solo exhibition Treasure Islands, also curated by Rossana Calbi.
Last autumn the solo show Phantasmagoria, at the Nero Gallery in Rome.
His illustrations have been published by "ILLUSTRATI", "Frigidaire" and "IL NUOVO MALE". He has made covers for books and LPs, recent Debbi (the strange) horror novel by Paolo di Orazio, and the latest album by The Bone Machine: Sotto questo cielo nero.
Oscar "Odd" Diodoro is an Italian illustrator and visual artist. He started working in a communication agency, his projects are now developing autonomously. Among his clients Adobe, Paolo Fresu, Selle Royal, Selle Royal, Newton Compton Editori, Usborne Publishing UK, Warner Bros.
His artistic career develops in a series of exhibitions in Italy, the last one curated by Marta Di Meglio for the Roman gallery Up Urban Contemporary Gallery, always in the Capital with two exhibition projects signed by Rossana Calbi: Fantasticherie di un passeggiatore solitario for Sacripante Gallery and EXIT VOTO for Parione9 Gallery, later presented also at the gallery amaneï in Salina and in the Abbey of Badia a Ruoti (AR). In Turin his work is presented by Illustri Festival for the Torino Graphic Days, and in Cremona he exhibits in collaboration with the Tapirulan Association. His audience has had the opportunity to admire his colors also abroad: Los Angeles, New York, Paris and Beijing.
Born in Rome to a Russian mother and Roman father, Lisinka lives between Rome and Bologna.
After an interlude of classical studies, she dedicated herself entirely to drawing and painting and obtained a diploma at the art high school and a degree in decoration and restoration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.
Her illustrations and paintings on canvas have been exhibited in Rome at the Afnakafna Gallery, HulaHoop Gallery, Parione9 Gallery, and in the fashion store han made Not Your Dolls. At the same time his works have traveled throughout Italy, with exhibitions at the Castel dell'Ovo in Naples, the Rodolfo Valentino Castellaneta Museum (TA) and in the gallery amaneï of Salina, in the Aeolian Islands (ME), and also abroad: in Portugal and the United States, in Pasadina, for the Flower Pepper Gallery.
King Pritt is one of the identities of Edoardo Baraldi, cartoonist and illustrator who lives and works in Bologna. After his studies at the high school of art, his studies on art are addressed to the unstructured expressions related to lowbrow art.
With the stage name Hal 9000 and Edo 9000 he presents his works on fanzines and magazines: "Motorino", "Petrolio", "Torazine", "Epoc", "Klebstoff", "Linus".
In 2004 his last alter ego was born: King Pritt and he realized a self-produced volume in limited edition, sold out.
In 2019, he returns to be Edo 9000 and publishes, with 001 Edizioni, Pallonate del destino.
Meanwhile King Pritt is working on a new collage collection.
Daria Petrilli works in Rome as a freelance illustrator for the national and international market.
After finishing her studies at the state art high school in Ripetta, she graduated as an illustrator at IED and ICEI.
Over the years her works have received awards in Italy and abroad in competitions and collective and personal exhibitions, including the selection at Illustrarte in Lisbon in 2009, Bologna Children's Book Fair in 2011, Berlin Young Illustration in 2015.
His work has been used in books, magazine articles and book covers.
In the advertising field he had the opportunity to create two packaging collections with the Asian cosmetics brand Shiseido and one on the Chinese market with Nescafé.
Lumas and Artemest, two important art distribution brands worldwide, exclusively manage the sale of some of his works.
Camilla Carabini was born in 1988 in Rome. She graduated in Economic Sciences at Bocconi University in Milan and at the Sapienza University in Rome in anthropology. Meanwhile she lives, studies and works in Milan, Madrid, Buenos Aires and Ghana.
From 2012 to 2014 she collaborates with the economic-financial newspaper FIRSTonline.
From 2014 to 2019 she works, as Communication and Research Manager before and as Director from 2018, for the NGO Coopermondo, committed to promoting social and cooperative enterprises in Africa and Latin America.
At the end of 2019 she starts a new professional adventure at Editori Laterza where she deals with events and external relations.
Since September 2019, she has been a member of the Steering Committee of the Ethical Finance Foundation, which promotes critical finance education and finance at the service of the real economy.
