Capaccio has worked with Sala 1 since 1984, sharing, among other things, a primary interest in music, which is an essential component of this exhibition. Thanks to the collaboration with the composer Simone Pappalardo, an installation entitled 'Cultivation of spectral psychophonies', merges both visual art and sound. The exhibition, opening April 4 in the gallery, presents a concise and curated selection of works chosen by the artist over more than forty years, starting from the mid-seventies of the last century until now.

Since the mid-seventies, Capaccio's work has constantly developed following a complex itinerary, often marked by large thematic cycles, such as those of 'Drapery', 'Skies', 'Ghirigori', 'Grotesques'. His work intertwines artistic, musical, literary, poetic themes and content; it centers on the dynamics of abstraction, on art as a speculative and philosophical horizon, on the search for mastery through the essential discipline of simple things. The choice of the works in the exhibition was made with particular attention to the variation of recurring elements in Capaccio's work. An exhibition to be seen almost in profile, through multiple perspectives, connections to be discovered, starting from today and retracing, backwards, in a proactive and creative way, and perhaps a different, unprecedented path. 

Exhibited works include: 'Fuga in Egitto, particolari', ink on paper, 2022 (three artworks from the last important pictorial cycle of the artist); 'Cielo', acrilic on shaped canvas, 1988; 'Grottesca', acrilic on shaped canvas, 1981; 'Radice', mixed media, 1973-74.

In addition, the visual-musical installation 'Cultivation of spectral psychophonies', 2015-2023, created by Capaccio together with the composer Simone Pappalardo, poetically linked to the idea of being able to steal and give shape and visibility to ultramundane voices and references, is re-proposed in a new version.
