Chasing Adaptation brings together scientific research and artistic practice to explore the relationship between humans and their environment through different forms of expression.

The exhibition follows the month Vert Project’s team spent in the Lofoten Islands during the Arctic winter. Trekking across the frozen archipelago, immersing themselves in icy waters and collecting biological samples, the team investigated the mechanisms through which the human body responds and adapts to extreme environmental conditions.

Photographs taken in the field enter into dialogue with artworks by Federico Ruxo, whose marine imagery calls for climate awareness and highlights the urgency of preserving the diversity of marine life on a changing planet. This encounter opens the research to another level of observation and interpretation, bringing the story of the expedition together with the artist’s vision.

By hosting and curating the exhibition at Betterpress Studio, we aim to create a space where knowledge and imagination can enter into dialogue and give rise to new questions. Change and adaptation are part of biology, but they also shape our experience: they speak to how we engage with our surroundings and their transformations.
