DIEGO STELLA'S SOLO EXHIBITION "POP CONNECTIONS"

THE "CONNESIONI POP" EXHIBITION FEATURES EXPONENTS OF THE ROMAN SCHOOL OF PIAZZA DEL POPOLO OF THE 1950S AND 1960S, WHOSE LANGUAGE CONTINUES TO INSPIRE NEW FORMS OF EXPRESSION, PUTTING THEM IN DIALOGUE WITH THE ARTISTIC PRODUCTION OF DIEGO STELLA.

The exhibition—curated by Dr. Sylvia Irrazábal, a long-time contemporary art curator—is conceived as a bridge between past and present. The curator, known for her ability to create exhibitions in which the works engage in a lively and immediate dialogue with the viewer, wanted to create an event that not only presents Diego Stella's work, but also places it within a cultural narrative spanning decades of Italian art history. In recent years, Maestro Diego Stella, a Roman artist chosen to represent Roman art in dialogue with the great masters of the 20th century, has distinguished himself nationally and internationally with his artistic work. Many critics consider him an heir to the Roman School of Piazza del Popolo for his ability to reinterpret its spirit in a contemporary key, maintaining a lively dialogue between tradition and innovation. The exhibition is enriched by two private collections and includes works by leading figures of the Roman School of Piazza del Popolo, protagonists of Italian Pop Art, such as Mario Schifano, Renato Mambor, Giosetta Fioroni, Tano Festa, and Franco Angeli, whose language continues to inspire new generations of artists. The exhibition also features works by Luigi Montanarini and Tancredi Parmeggiani, two masters whose distinct poetics profoundly influenced the visual vocabulary of postwar Italy. In this context, Connessioni Pop becomes an immersive experience, where the history and present of Italian art intertwine in a powerful and contemporary visual narrative.
