ECOLOGIA INTERIORE

Giulia Spernazza

Opening Saturday, October 18th, 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM

On Saturday, October 18th, the FABER art gallery presents the exhibition "ECOLOGIA INTERIORE" by Giulia Spernazza.

The separation between interior and exterior environments does not exist; it is merely a product of our minds. The world we live in is a reflection of what happens within us, and the quality of our lives is closely related to the level of eco-sustainability of our thoughts.

This is the starting point of the conceptual shift that Giulia Spernazza brings to the new phase of her research, while maintaining extreme coherence and continuity with the principles that distinguish her stylistic signature.

In this exhibition, the movement between two- and three-dimensionality takes on meanings that transcend pure physical essence and presuppose a journey between the interior and exterior dimensions, where liquid and solid, light and dark become a fluctuating metaphor for catharsis.

Starting from a purification of thoughts, we arrive at a conscious respect for others and the environment around us.

The artist, who has always pursued an introspective journey that embraces a purely artistic approach aimed at essentiality, this time conveys not only the arrival at the spiritual sphere, but also the expression of a state of chaos, a restless mind saturated with pollutants, which pollutes the interior sphere to the point of overflowing and contaminating the outside world. By introducing real-world data into his works, Spernazza decides to make visible the correlation between what happens inside and what happens outside, entrusting matter and color with a true purification process. Within the fluid matter, he incorporates hydraulic elements designed to release water, from which thread and textile fibers emerge, suggesting the degree of impurity through tonal shifts.

The works are often grouped into installation triptychs, expressing a vital process that allows us to perceive transformations, purity and opacity, dirt and clarity, just as our lives unfold.

What is happening within also changes the colors of the inserted elements, creating a uniformity with the fibers that gradually turn white; everything is the result of the internal purification taking place.

The entire installation is dominated by an installation approach, an expression of a three-dimensional trait essential to the artist's exploration and engagement with forms in space. Giulia Spernazza's language remains minimalist as always; the voids are of utmost importance in giving power and full prominence to the material elements.

The exhibition unfolds in an alternation of poetic traits and dramatic moments where one can lose oneself and be reborn.

The exhibition will feature the video work "BLEACH" by the young video artist Maya Grassa, inspired by the concept of the ECOLOGIA INTERIORE project.

Our internal environment is not something invisible; it manifests itself in our actions and in the way we relate to the outside world. This is why it is necessary to begin with a patient and sometimes arduous construction of an internal ecology.
