On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and China, Gallery Morphè is pleased to host the exhibition Echoes of Mountains and Seas, an official event of the Rome Art Week 2025 program.
The exhibition features outstanding faculty members and students from two of the most important academies in Southwest China:
-
the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in Chongqing, founded in 1940, one of the eight most influential art academies in China, renowned for the Sichuan School of Painting and for its pioneering research in contemporary art;
-
the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts, an emerging institution currently undergoing an identity renewal, combining the tradition of Chinese painting with new digital and interdisciplinary practices.
The exhibition explores the dialogue between cultures, territories, and imaginaries: between the “mountains” of the Chinese region and the symbolic “sea” of Rome, crossroads of the Mediterranean.
The project is conceived as a platform for artistic exchange between two civilizations and two generations, and is the result of the curatorial collaboration of Tong Yanfei, Valeria Cirone, and Zhang Yubin, under the artistic direction of Anastasiia Chaikovskaia.
