Wednesday 16 October 2024 at 5:00 pm, in the spaces of the prestigious Villa Altieri - Palazzo della Cultura e della Memoria Storica, the solo exhibition Pavoni reali e altre ibride creature by Leonella Masella will be inaugurated, curated by Annamaria Corbi, Roberta Melasecca and Enzo Francesco Testa, accompanied by the critical texts of Annamaria Corbi and Simona Antonacci, promoted by the cultural association blowart and with the patronage of the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital and the Rome Capital Department of Culture.
The project focuses on the concept of ambivalence of what we call progress and development and on the anxiety that derives from them, not only for the degeneration in the quality of human and social relationships but also for the devastation of the environment at a planetary level. Hence the vision of an alternative world that emerges from waste: landscapes resulting from a mysterious process of transformation in which urban waste is reorganized into new agglomerations, populated by hybrid human and animal beings.
Among real peacocks and other hybrid creatures, the visitor will be able to participate in a process of resistance and opposition to contemporary reality to find a new form of life, to imagine, and one day build, new cities, new urban realities capable, if necessary, of migrating to other galaxies in the Universe.
