Short biography about Andrea Volo

Andrea Volo was born in Palermo in 1941. He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Palermo and at the Academy of Fine Arts in München with a scholarship from D.A.A.D. He obtained a diploma from the painting class of Jean Deyrolle. He frequented the lithography courses at the Kokoschka School, held by Slavj Soucek in Salzburg.
After gaining his most important formative experience in Germany, he moved at the end of 1967 to Rome, where he presently resides. He started his artistic career with a solo exhibition in Palermo in 1961. Since then he has shown his works in solo, group and collective exhibitions held in public and private galleries, in Italy and abroad.
His works are in public and private collections both in Italy (for example Collezione Banca d’Italia, Roma; Collezione Assemblea Siciliana, Palermo) and abroad (New York Public Library; Corpus Christi College, Cambridge; Museum Boymans van Beuningen, Rotterdam; Dürerhaus Stadtmuseum, Nürnberg). He has taught in Carrara, Napoli, Frosinone and Rome as Professor of painting.
