Sesto Senso Art Gallery is pleased to present to the public on the occasion of Rome Art Week, which will be held from October 20 to 25, a new work by Antonio Tamburro, Marine depths, 63X70.8 inches, oil and acrylic on canvas. The artist has been inspired by the theme of water for some time now, and he does so through the depiction of a new series of paintings at the center of which is always the iconic female figure: sinuous and elegant figures like modern mermaids plunge into the marine depths.
In the painting Marine depths Tamburro expresses with the great and usual mastery that distinguishes him, a refined and explosive play of colors through infinite shades and color transitions: from blue to azure, from green to turquoise. The painting is a depiction of the seabed that with its chromatic beauty captures the viewer through multiple colors: splashes of red, yellow, orange, shades of coral pink.
The dominant color of turquoise creates a hypnotic dimension that draws the viewer into a surreal scenario. The two female figures plunge into the ocean depths and swim in opposite directions giving the composition a sense of balance and equilibrium.
Surrounding the two swimming figures is a void, an abyss, amplified by the shadow below. Shades of white reflect the light from the water, illuminating some points especially in the upper part of the painting. The spiritual atmosphere that hovers around the two figures takes us to another dimension, where everything seems to float in the void, in the abyss, with a sense of lightness and transport that only Tamburro can create with his painting.
