IDENTITY
A project by Patrizia Genovesi
IDENTITY is the new artistic project by Patrizia Genovesi that explores, through video installations and photographic images, the crucial theme of identity in the age of artificial intelligence. It is a visual, philosophical, and cultural investigation into the profound transformations that the notion of identity undergoes in a time when the boundaries between the human and the artificial are increasingly fluid and permeable.
The project unfolds on two main levels: on one hand, through immersive video installations and conceptual imagery, Genovesi explores the relationship between self-perception and emerging cognitive technologies, questioning how personal identity is constructed in relation to algorithms, digital profiling, and the progressive outsourcing of cognitive functions to AI. In this scenario, identity is no longer a stable and well-defined dimension, but a constantly rewritten and negotiated field, engaged in dialogue with computational models and digital structures.
At the same time, IDENTITY investigates the collective and territorial dimension of identity through a series of photographs dedicated to neighborhoods, cities, and urban contexts with a strong cultural identity. These images are not mere documentary records: they are visual meditations on memory, historical stratification, and the cultural and social imprint that renders a place unique and recognizable—almost a living organism. Every urban glimpse becomes a metaphor for collective cultural identity, a living fabric made of relationships, styles, codes, and symbols that resist the standardization imposed by globalization and massive digitalization.
The entire project is accompanied by theoretical explorations of philosophical, behavioral, and cultural nature, integrated into the visual narrative. The works raise radical questions about the meaning of “self” in an era where otherness is often mediated by non-human intelligences and where the construction of identity increasingly takes place in digital environments.
With IDENTITY, Patrizia Genovesi continues her artistic research at the crossroads of art, science, and consciousness, extending her reflection—already central in projects like COSMOS—to the existential challenges of the present and the future. Once again, her art proves capable of translating complex issues into powerful and symbolic images, offering the audience not just a vision but an invitation to critical reflection.
