Rovine, mia famiglia

Exhibition inspired by "La Ferocia" written by Nicola Lagioia and its theatrical adaptation

NABA Campus in Rome presents the exhibition Rovine, mia famiglia in the rooms of Spazio MAGMA.

The project on display was realised during the a.y. 2023-24 by the students of the second year of the BA Graphic Design and Art Direction, under the artistic direction of Valerio Polici (NABA lecturer), starting with the reading of the novel La Ferocia by Nicola Lagioia and the vision of its theatrical adaptation by the Vico Quarto Mazzini company. Rather than a further adaptation, the research focused on the suggestions arising from the two experiences, trying to translate them into a purely visual language. An emotional response declined through five artist's photo books. Each student staged a story in which noir, painting and cinema were linked to personal anxieties, leading in some cases to using their own body as material to be modelled. Lysergic, seductive and disturbing, reality is investigated from multiple points of view but always with a minimalist attitude that encourages doubt, tension and mystery. When the different stories meet within each book, the mental precipice becomes continuous and it is difficult to get out: one can only let oneself be carried away.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 21 October to 7 November. On the occasion of the finissage, NABA will host a conversation open to the public (7 November at 6 p.m.) between Valerio Polici and Gabriele Paolocà, director of the show, as part of the cycle of meetings NABA CHATS, promoted by NABA Campus in Rome.
