Unaware of the distance
The view of the sea and the Lucanian Apennines was not merely a backdrop to this summer’s work, but became its very substance. This series of abstract works stems from the encounter between landscape observation — from the glimmers of the moon over the sea to the dim light of an eclipse — and an unfiltered material exploration.
Unaware of the distance is a collection of 18 works created on a sketchbook, serving as a visual and emotional mapping of the summer. Pencil, ink, and coffee dialogue with tactile elements such as wrapping papers, glues, and even the sandpaper used for small home repairs, incorporated as a surface of abrasion and memory.
An invitation to explore how nature and raw matter merge to re-emerge on paper: from the original pieces kept within the pages ready to be leafed through, to their visual expansion through enlargements and projections that reveal every single layer.
