The Biblioteca Vallicelliana in Rome welcomes Juanni Wang’s exhibition in the Borromini Hall. A Chinese artist who has been pursuing a pictorial exploration of interior spaces for many years, Wang focuses in particular on the environments of libraries.
The exhibition offers a unique experience: an art exhibition devoted to libraries, presented within a historic library itself. Through her paintings, visitors are transported imaginatively into the spaces of different and distant libraries. Within a single library, it is thus possible to discover many others around the world. The exhibition invites each viewer to experience the fascination of the library as a space, to rediscover forgotten memories, and to encounter that intimate and authentic beauty that only a library can preserve and convey.
“In 2015, I left Shanghai for Rome. Over these eleven years, I have always loved painting from life and creating works devoted to interior spaces. In particular, the library series represents the heart of my artistic research, which I continue to explore. In a library, one can have the feeling of sailing through a sea of books; the relationship and coexistence between books, space, and people make art even more powerful and engaging.”
From the Vallicelliana Library to the Angelica Library and the Casanatense Library in Rome, from the Treccani libraries and the library in Brescia to the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris, each place becomes part of a journey -almost a dialogue of the soul.”
