6ARTISTA Open Studio

A Studio Encounter: Dialogues Between the Artistic Practices of Vanshika Agrawal and Nadia Vallino

In 2025, the sixth edition of 6ARTISTA has officially begun. The residency program was conceived by Marcello Smarrelli for Fondazione Pastificio Cerere, and this year it is realized in collaboration with RUFA – Rome University of Fine Arts, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture (MiC) and SIAE, as part of the Per Chi Crea program.

6ARTISTA. Project for Young Artists 2025–2026 offers six emerging artists the opportunity to develop their research over the course of a three-month residency hosted at the Pastificio Cerere spaces, located in the heart of the San Lorenzo district in Rome. The selected artists for this edition are: Vanshika Agrawal, Emma Brunelli, Micol Gelsi, Davide Miceli, Giulia Romolo, and Nadia Vallino

At Fondazione Pastificio Cerere, the open studio on October 24th invites visitors to a studio encounter focused on dialogue and exchange between the research practices of the two artists currently in residence.

Vanshika Agrawal explores social memory and family histories through re-enacted domestic gestures, questioning how memory, history, and emotion intertwine in everyday life. Her practice builds embodied narratives in which repetition and care become critical tools to rethink the relationship between intimacy, labor, and intergenerational transmission.

In parallel, Nadia Vallino works with the sandcastle as a figure of impermanence: an image that places the desire for refuge in tension with forms of control, reflecting on how play translates into interior and social architectures.

The open studio is conceived as a participatory moment: questions, listening, and audience contributions activate shared practices and narratives, creating a vibrant space for exchange within the studio.
