For this edition of Rome Art Week 2026, I am once again opening my studio to the public, as I decided to do in 2011, to engage the more curious visitors. This time, the experience revolves around the work I am currently carrying out in the preparation of colours, revealing the raw materials before they are transformed into pigments.
On view will be madder roots and the pigments derived from them, iron gall ink, walnut-hull ink and the materials from which they are made, together with minerals and pigments obtained from wonderful natural formations: green and red tuffs, and copper-derived materials such as chrysocolla.
A world of earth, minerals and raw materials, collected, ground and reground, slowly transformed into colour through a continuous gesture that carries memory.
