Gao Hanteng is an independent curator, visual artist and educator active in Italy. His background originates in painting and later developed across visual arts, curatorial research and semiotics. His practice focuses primarily on curatorial work, public art and site-specific projects.
His working method begins with the direct observation of places and dialogue with the people who inhabit them. Through his projects, he investigates how memory, urban transformation, local economic activity, materials and everyday behavior can become part of the artistic process, translating concrete needs and ideas into achievable visual strategies.
Among his recent projects is Molecular, a public art project connected to the territory of Settimo Torinese, which brings together local memory, public space, local businesses and participation. In parallel, he develops curatorial and exhibition projects in collaboration with artists and different contexts, focusing on the relationship between artwork, space and audience. His research approaches art not as an isolated object, but as a tool capable of activating relationships and new ways of reading a place.
