Solmaz Vilkachi was born in Tehran. She graduated in Iran first in Economics and later in Graphic Design. She has been living in Rome since 2009, where in 2017 she earned a diploma in Environmental Sculpture and Lapis Tiburtinus from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. She has participated in various solo and group exhibitions and has created sculptural installations that have been displayed and permanently installed in public spaces in different Italian cities.
The human figure plays a central role in her work; her perspective on the world is filtered through the vision of the beings that inhabit it. Solmaz is an artist who embraces a wide range of themes through her art. In addition to her exploration of identity, memory, and human behavior in contemporary society, she has devoted considerable attention in recent years to the theme of the environmental crisis and the unsettling inability or indifference of human beings to confront it.
