Caterina Marchionne

Data and contact details

Photographer and visual artist, passionate traveler, Caterina Marchionne approaches the world of photography during a long stay in China. She begins as self-taught and then studies photography and visual languages in Rome, at CSF Adams and Officine Fotografiche. Her artistic practise practise focuses on abstract photography and further contemporary image making.

She often draws inspiration from the elements and details of everyday life, from observing materials, space, architecture and objects. She likes experimenting with mixed shooting techniques, multiple exposures, intentional camera movement, overexposure. More recently she has approached "coding" as a technique of image manipulation, as used in the context of Glitch Photography/Glitch Art. An attempt to express beauty in errors, as this is the practise of using digital or analog errors for aesthetic purposes by either corrupting digital data or physically manipulating electronic devices.

She has been selected to participate in several group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, some of them dedicated to Glitch Art. She won the TOP40 2016 contest organized by LACDA-Los Angeles Center for Digital Art. In 2018 Lydia Palumbo Scalzi Gallery (Latina, Italy) presented her first solo show, RIVISITAZIONI.
