Biographical notes
Learning from the great lessons of Modern Art, from the awesomeness of Contemporary Art and experimenting in the net, Giulio Perfetti has been through a variegated path, always voted to constant curiosity and to the pleasure of discovery. After an irregular and unsatisfying academic education, from the first 90’s he started to paint with mixed technique on paper, iron, wood and pottery. The choosen subject are all “concepts”, the writings and the colours are from the “science of the sign” used by Osvaldo Licini and from the clever amusement of Dada and the ready-made.


A stream of shapes submerged by colour; little hands arise from the bottom suggesting the chance to play in a fantastic dimension of a metaphorical yet real pilgrimage. The images are immediate and out of time, evocative. The flying head and the visual cone are recurring themes. They are a remider of the strong mental activity prone to introspection of men, in the middle of a sea of archetypes. The action of painting looks like writing, where every graphic sign is a linguistic
expression that develops in a parallel path with visual poetry. Complex and apparently random, the signs refer to a code. Sometimes they tell directions to follow with a gesture taken from the lesson of Surrealismand from informal comunication.


Since 2000, the artist has been experimenting digital photography and art-web, as a natural pursuance of his research of concept and his daily experience as a professional designer. This allowed the birth of a sequence of pieces of art where the research is about the ontologic position of men in space, about the meaning of his relationship with the environment that is around him. The subjects are elusive and not still, bright glimpses that seem to want to escape the
circumscribed space in which they are delimited. Geometry has got a precise meaning due to the close relationship which exists between the social space, being linked to the problem of power and domination, like in “Nude studies” by Francis Bacon or in some pieces by Jasper Johns, where an instable visual field questions us about what happens to perception when the eye and the mind are working at the same time.

The reality is proposed as a chance of a relationship here and now and often it tells a story that is autobiographic. The artist uses a diversity of overlying languages trying to find the “environment”, an “art in which you can enter”, where the viewer is called to interact with Art.
