Born and raised in Rome, I have been drawing since I can remember. I obtained a BA in Illustration from the Institute of European Design, in 1994. In the same year my work was selected at the Children’s Book Fair in Bologna for my non-fiction project Middle Ages. For my qualification in Illustration, I studied all fields of the subject, from basic image making to applied work such as editorial and animation. I learned all illustrative techniques in a variety set of projects.Since leaving college I had series of freelance jobs in illustration, and decoration. I was commissioned to design various logos, such as for a bar, a gym, a record company and I also designed images for promotional leaflets. After my appearance in the ‘ Annual 1995” at Bologna book fair, an animation company “Airone Cinematography” gave me a freelance work as colourist. I found myself very enthusiastic working in this challenging and creative environment where I had the opportunity to meet many specialist animators. When I finished my freelance job, I moved to London to further advance my career. Once in London, my directions changed toward Graphic and Web Design work. During my career as Designer I carried on developing my illustration skills, also using them in my graphic work. In 2013 I have illustrated and designed a Record’s cover “Molto Groovy Christmas” for the American director Roman Coppola. In 2014 I made the decision to get back to study illustration in the field of children book. I have recently graduated at Anglia Ruskin in Cambridge for a MA in Children’s Book Illustration. The course has given me the confidence to develop my characters and stories in depth, using new methods and drawing techniques. I am currently using gouache and colouring pencil, but I also enjoy printmaking and collage.I believe that as creatives we should never stop exploring and experimenting with ways to build new visuals and make our stories more exciting.I had a small book published by Penguin Random House. The project was organized by Ministry Of Stories who are a local writing and mentoring centre in East London. The story was written by a 7 years old and illustrated by myself and the title is “The Toucans Never Gave Up” . At the moment I am in working progress for a book project that I wrote and illustrated called “ The Croc who rocked” published by Starfish Bay 2018
