BIOGRAPHY
Francesca Carpentieri was born on September 3, 1991 in Modica, Sicily – where she was educated at the local Tommaso Campailla art institute. After leaving her hometown, she attended the historic Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome from 2010 to 2016, when she graduated with honors in painting. Her final dissertation about the Sicilian master painters belonging to the so called Gruppo di Scicli was considered for publication by the Accademia.
In addition to her academic work, Francesca has pursued a more personal strand of artistic research, exploring different themes and subjects, perfecting painting techniques and developing a new sense of emotional awareness which is at the core of her self-expression as a painter.
Initially, she focused on the human face, producing a series of portraits and self-portraits in line with different stylistic traditions, from more figurative pictures to expressionist and even abstract works.
More recently, she exclusively dedicates herself to landscape painting, tracing an introspective path of memories back through the places of her life. Thus, Francesca’s newest artistic production includes Sicilian rural scenes, urban views, and Irish landscapes. And yet none of these paintings represent an actual location. They are instead the result of a process of internalizing the external world’s lines and colors, to reshape places through the artist’s own feelings.
