Biography A.T Anghelopoulos
A.T Anghelopoulos currently lives and works in Rome. He has always had a playful relationship with art. At the age of ten, he attended his first painting courses and in the ’80s, when he was still very young, he was exposed to many acclaimed national artists, including Gigino Falconi. He started studying music, he developed a passion for photography and learned all the technical procedures in his semi-professional laboratory. But he did not forget his first love and after completing his classical and scientific academic studies, he decided to go back to visual arts (painting and installations) yet again following the irresistible call of great contemporary art, its most innovative masters from Klee to Dalì, to Magritte, from Rothko to Schifano and the humanism of Haring. He lived and worked in various European cities but it is in the US that he was particularly struck by the most representative artists of the post-World War II period.
He took part in personal and collective exhibitions in Italy and abroad (Rome, Florence, Brussels, Venice), and in the last editions of Spoleto Arte, Biennale di Milano and the London Biennale, the Pro Biennale di Venezia. His first personal exhibition in a Museum was “Tra Materia ed Anima. Tra Memoria e Tempo. A.T. Anghelopoulos e Andrea Pinchi”, in Rome at the Complesso del Vittoriano, in the Sala Giubileo 12 to 25 November 2015, curated by Prof. Claudio Strinati.
With his Inner Life (inspired by Portrait of a Young Fiancée by Leonardo da Vinci that was shown in Italy during Expo 2015 in the Reggia di Monza, Anghelopoulos took part in the “Biennale di Milano-EXPO Milano 2015” curated by Vittorio Sgarbi.
A.T. Anghelopoulos is an artist that inspects, explores and experiments. In his hands, art becomes an instrument to reflect on man and contemporary society because art must also be an opportunity for reflection, must tickle our intelligence. Therefore, the artist is a medium between worlds: the world within and the world outside ourselves, between the earthly and the transcendent.
