Sara Chiaranzelli (born in Rome, 1979) is an Italian visual artist who lives and works in L’Aquila, Abruzzo, where she graduated in Painting at the ABA (Academy of Fine Arts). For thirty years, she has cultivated a passion for oil painting—a path of continuous study that launched her exhibition career in 2002. She won the “VI Biennale di Atri” and created the permanent altarpiece “Madonna degli Zingari” for the Church of Sant’Anna in Giulianova, Abruzzo. Among her major public commissions is a mural painting executed for Casoli Pinta, the Open-Air Museum in Casoli di Atri.
At the core of her research lies a profound inquiry into the human condition, explored through an aesthetics of the threshold: her works evolve from figurative data toward an abstract synthesis, attempting to give shape to the invisible states of being. In this transition, sacred geometry and symbols become tools to organize the complexity of inner experience, transforming individual history into a universal reflection on fragility and the tension toward transcendence. Her work is distinguished by a selection of precious colors and the use of pure metallic leaves and powders, including gold, platinum, palladium, copper, brass, silver, and aluminum. The symbolic value is always deeply intertwined with the material itself, bridging meaning and medium.
