Balberocci is a completely self-taught Italian artist. He was born in 1993 in Terni (Umbria, Italy) and grew up in Amelia, a small country town in the same region. He has always been passionate about oil painting, mainly thanks to the influence of his mother (also a self-taught amateur painter). But it was only in 2016 that he felt the need to embark on a more conscious path, an artistic quest directly linked to self-knowledge, both as a “physical body” and as an individual. The result is a painting style that he himself likes to define as “melancholic from the gut,” where the beast and the human being become one in a daily life made up of ferocity and kindness, where bodies are surprised by their own existence.
He currently lives in Perugia, where he works as an agronomist in a nursery while continuing his artistic research. He prefers to use the pseudonym Balberocci, as a split and distancing from “everyday life,” made up of rules and conventions, which he often perceives as too suffocating.
