Alessandra D’Ortona (based in Paglieta, Italy) is a visual artist whose work is critically defined as "investigative social painting". Building on a thirty-year artistic journey that originated in hyperrealism, she progressively shifted toward an expressionist and abstract language driven by an inner, ethical imperative to prioritize deep emotional perception over literal representation.
Described as a "seeker of traces", D’Ortona approaches the canvas as an archaeological excavation through color and texture. Utilizing physical layering, wax, sand, and gold leaf, she unearths submerged faces and forgotten human identities, rescuing them from social obscurity. Her deeply inclusive artistic vision aims toward a collective "Utopia of We", where individual fragments find restoration and connection within the Anima Mundi.
Her works are held in notable contemporary art collections, including the AP/ArteProssima Contemporary Art Museum, featured in Giorgio Mondadori’s Modern Art Catalog (CAM), and tracked on major international art platforms such as Artprice.
