Elisabetta Martinez
Elisabetta Martinez, a Roman painter born in 1963, began her training in the "Bottega"
His father, Maestro Luigi Martinez. He attends painting, sculpture, etching and in the
1989 he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of Rome "La Sapienza" where
He collaborates in Composition and Design courses.
In her early works, Elisabetta experimented with the theme of the face in minimal representations of faces repeated in a continuum of curved lines.
"Geometries and Forms," his themes of study and research, are divided into two expressive directions: on the one hand the study of the female figure, hinted and abstract, outlined on large unfinished and marginalized canvas scores; on the other hand the works on primitive figures, archetypal forms that appear from informal backgrounds, traces of timeless deities, inspired by the giants of Nemrut Dagi in Turkey, from the temples of the Bayon and the great Buddhas.
This is done through a representation that has never ended in itself, which leaves the gaze and the mind the possibility of grasping something unseen, something that is in ourselves and that only our inner gaze can decode.
In recent works "Roman Acropolis" he experiments with the construction of the urban landscape, summarized in its primary signs "arches, domes, lanterns and crosses," a representation articulated in horizontal planes, historical periods, and the vertical grid, the tight colonnades of the monuments, which forms the background of domes wrapped in light morning mists.
A collection of works dedicated to the cave paintings of Lascaux and Chauvet, focusing on the "Dances under the stars" of primitive animals and the "Course of the felines," the myth of the primordial birth, characterize the last works.
The use of oil color, used pure, in successive overlaps, creates shades, textures and transparencies, the charcoal is a trace of the initial sketch or veiling that goes to dirty the color, small inserts in gold or silver leaf expand the reading plans... the spatula as the main tool of the creative gesture.
