A Roman writer, he has written the novels Il caso Vittorio (minumum fax, 2003), Storia della mia purezza (Mondadori, 2010) and Class (2014, chosen among the 2017 books of the New York Times critics), Le donne amate (Rizzoli, 2018), and the short story collection Solo storie di sesso (notetempo 2022). He wrote the essays Clarissa Dalloway and I (Marsilio 2020) and Seminar on Common Places (minimum fax 2012). He founded the magazine Il Tascabile di Treccani, was editor-in-chief of Nuovi Argomenti, writes in “La Repubblica,” “Tomorrow,” “Rolling Stone” and the American magazine “n+1.” He is a member of the editorial board of the Salone di Torino. He conducts the interview podcast Archivio Pacifico. He has translated numerous foreign authors, including Francis Scott Fitzgerald, Ralph Ellison, Kurt Vonnegut, Dave Eggers, Hanya Yanagihara, Henry Miller, Chris Ware and Matt Groening.
