Nicola Ughi is a professional photographer.
Born in Pisa in 1972, he worked in Lucca for more than 15 years in the photographic studio of Capannori. Then he move back to Pisa (Pontasserchio) at the end of 2019. He is also known for his #sediarossa project: started for fun by portraying friends and relatives on a red wooden chair. Today the project become known, especially on social media, for having also photographed important characters from entertainment, sports and TV sitting on his chair.
The #sediarossa has now become a registered trademark and aims to be at the service through the portrait of those who decide to put their face on it, of everything that today represents a danger for people, an emergency for the planet.
The project was born in 2017 with the desire to give an identity and a style to a series of posed portraits. Red represents caution and danger. In the specific case it means for the artist: "stop, sit down, look at me and pose". At the same time in the Slavic languages RED is synonymous with BEAUTIFUL (Krasny - krasivij).
Some sated portraits of famous people on the #sediarossa will be exhibited in the gallery and the chair will be available for all those who want to have a printed portrait done.
