Data and contact details

Daan Noppen (Arnhem, 14 January 1977) is a Dutch contemporary artist mainly working in drawing and painting. He is best known for his realistic larger than life drawings of portraits and bodies. Physics and it’s relation to our being, our emotions, plays a big part in his work. The artist plays with notions of reality by projecting time as a physical dimension. Rather than becoming something ‘scientific’ this opens up a visual world of our hidden layers of our desires, our pain and our cry for being loved.

Daan Noppen's work has been exhibited in New York, New Orleans, Miami (USA), Mexico DF, Queretaro (Mexico), Shanghai (China), Metz (France), Luxembourg (Luxembourg), Tamnjanica (Serbia), Viechtach, Munchen (Germany), Traun (Austria) Belgium and The Netherlands.

The exibited works at Rome Art Week are part of a series that Daan started this year and will exhibits under the name: 'Fabric' in November.

The fabric of being

The series of paintings on canvas and paper by Daan Noppen is a reflection of our humanity, buried under the dilemmas of our time.

"The illusion of knowledge is troubling us. It has been distorted by people with a hunger for power, or has been clouded by the pictures that we make in our head. Have we forgotten where we come from, who we are ? Or is our biggest doubt tomorrow, the hope for tomorrow, or worse if there will be a tomorrow.. "

A selection of the serie will be launched at Rome Art Week.
