Battista Doneddu was born and raised in Sardinia, a land that has always represented his deepest roots and his inexhaustible source of inspiration. A self-taught artist, he began by observing the endless metamorphoses that matter can take under human hands: wood and stone, the primary elements of the Sardinian landscape, became the first companions of his creative journey. The natural and cultural richness of the island, with its anthropological and symbolic stratifications, has from the very beginning shaped the horizon within which his research took form.
Over the years, Doneddu has taken part in numerous exhibitions in Sardinia and throughout Italy, including the International Exhibition Regione Sardegna curated by Ilaria Giacobbi, as well as important group shows in Milan and Rome. He is also active on the international scene, collaborating with prestigious European galleries. He has participated in the Biennale del Salento and has presented his works on several occasions within Rome Art Week. His works are on permanent display at the Bauhaus Home Gallery in Rome, and are featured in numerous catalogues and publications, as well as being part of collections and institutional contexts.
Growing up in a territory rich in stone and wood, he developed from childhood a profound sensitivity to natural elements, which remain the core of his artistic research. Today, in a mature phase of his career, he continues to sculpt and experiment with the materials of his land, maintaining a constant dialogue with nature. His artistic exploration has progressively opened up to new contaminations, leading him also towards design and artistic furniture, thus expanding his vision of art while never losing the original bond with his roots and with the living matter of Sardinia.
