Riccardo Bertolotti has long been engaged with poetry and the visual arts. More recently, he has chosen to focus on etching as his primary form of expression.

Riccardo Bertolotti (b. 1979) lives and works in Rome. With a background in law, he earned a Ph.D. with research in semiotics and subsequently pursued an academic career for a decade. Alongside this, he has long been active in the field of poetry through presentations, lectures, articles, and publications.

A draftsman who works from life, he moved from pastel, tempera, and oil painting to intaglio printmaking — initially experimenting with drypoint before quickly shifting to etching. Etching is currently his primary medium of expression.

He primarily employs traditional techniques (etching, aquatint, drypoint, mezzotint), focusing mainly on figure studies and portraiture while also experimenting with small-scale imaginative compositions.

He occasionally turns his attention to still life and landscape.
