DigitalArt Factory

Il progetto a cura di Eva Czerkl, intende non tanto focalizzarsi sulle evoluzion

Thursday, September 13th at 6 pm, an international exhibition of contemporary art focusing on digital art and its evolution in different forms of expression (photography, painting and digital collage, 3D art, installation, video) is inaugurated in Rome at Palazzo Velli ). The works of 32 artists from all over Europe will be on display, and more.

The project, curated by Eva Czerkl, intends not to focus on the most futuristic developments but to offer an overview of all those realities in which the respective artistic expressions, starting from the most traditional, have found new impulses and realizations through partial or total use modern computer technology. The great digital revolution, which has already begun for a long time and which is proceeding with great strides with the evolution of the instruments that are gradually becoming more sophisticated, is upsetting the very idea of making art. Thinking of an art without matter and without that "work with the hands" that has always distinguished the artist is difficult.

But even if it is called in another way instead of art, and on this the opinions are unfailingly controversial, there is no doubt that the digital revolution is modifying the creation of images and their diffusion. Just like photography, which has never replaced painting but has instead established itself as an independent means of expression, digital art is becoming an independent artistic form.

Among the others, the important presence of Alessandro Bavari, photographer, painter, videomaker, pioneer of digital art, considered one of the great representatives of Italian surrealism.

Two of his works and videos will be on show, including "Metachaos", which has won several awards at various festivals. In 2016, on the explicit request of Ridley Scott Bavari, he was hired as a concept artist and art director by 20th Century Fox for Alien: Covenant and he designed and supervised some sequences of the film.
