Rome, Friday, April 24, 2026, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Spazio Studi Arte presents the exhibition Roommates ACT IV, the fourth installment of the exhibition project curated by Gemma Gulisano.
The artists in the exhibition share the space of Spazio Studi, free of thematic or formal connections; each artist in their respective rooms invites the public to explore their own microcosm.
Roommates is not a group show, but rather a multi-artist exhibition that excludes thematic, formal, or any other kind of connection between the artists. The curatorial choice is dictated by the need to reject the forced interpretations that undermine the quality of a growing number of group exhibitions. These exhibitions dare to impose dialogues, often with questionable outcomes.
Sidonie Pellegrino, Clarissa Secco e Damiano Tata share the spaces of Spazio Studi as roommates, but without any ties that would legitimize their coexistence.
As roommates of the same apartment, despite inhabiting a shared space to which they must conform, the roommates maintain an intimate, as well as a defining, dimension of identity within their own room (the exhibition space). This is notoriously a declaration of identity, albeit unintentional, that emerges from the objects that populate it, by their nature, quantity, and arrangement in relation to the environment. They are the result of choices, the outcome of an experience they attempt to recount and to recount themselves. Similarly, in each of the three rooms (rooms 1, 2, and 3), the artists invite the public to explore their own microcosm through a mini-solo exhibition.
