Studio Stefania Miscetti

Data and contact details

STUDIO STEFANIA MISCETTI is based in Rome in a former industrial space in Trastevere, a historical district of the city. Since 1990 this space was used to give the opportunity to Italian and foreign artists to carry out installations and performances specially created for the city of Rome.

The Studio has been engaged for several years in revitalizing the contemporary national scene by inviting artists to exhibit and realize site specific works in public and private spaces, not only in Rome. Thanks to these projects, many international artists linked to the experiences of the '60s and '70s avant-garde movements have exhibited their works in Rome.

Artists such as Marina Abramovic, Bizhan Bassiri, Doris Bloom, Alberto Di Fabio, VALIE EXPORT, Leon Golub, Alfredo Jaar, William Kentridge, Maria Lai, Hermann Nitsch, Michele Oka Doner, Yoko Ono, ORLAN, Gianni Piacentino, Michal Rovner, Nancy Spero, Spencer Tunick, Ben Vautier, Victoria Vesna, Wolf Vostell and others have been involved in several initiatives by creating original projects of intervention.

The great enthusiasm due to these projects helped in the realization of the exhibitions and events of Young Italian Artists. Among the several artists who have been promoted by the Studio with shows in Italy and abroad are Paolo Canevari, Bruna Esposito, Manuela Filiaci, Silvia Giambrone, Giancarlo Neri, Maurizio Pellegrin, Fiorella Rizzo, Gian Domenico Sozzi, Adrian Tranquilli, and Giorgio Vigna.

Many exhibitions are documented in catalogues, always including original texts written by the artists and accompanied by critical writings of art historians and curators like Achille Bonito Oliva, Alessandra Mammì, Fernanda Pivano, Federica Di Castro, Barbara Tosi, Ester Coen, Ida Magli, Vittorio Fagone, Mario Codognato, Mario Perniola, and Ida Panicelli.

The cooperation with Embassies and Academies in promoting international artists has always been interesting and fruitful.
