Sala 1 is pleased to present the exhibition 'Matericità dell'Effimero', curate by Alice Penconi, the first event of the Open - Portfolio initiative, a project created to discover and give young artists the opportunity to exhibit their works.

The show, which features Ellen Wolf, Ludovica Baldini and Roberta Ubaldi, is distinguished by a powerful and engaging force of sensory and perceptive communication. This is presented through chromatic energy, the power of the various mediums and the images they evoke. The works reflect on the concept of time, chance and the fleeting nature of impressions. They are artefacts that mark a transitional phase explored through different media such as painting, photographic prints and video installations using a variety of materials and subjects that form a distinctive communion.

The three artists establish two temporal dimensions, making them intertwined. On one hand,  an objective time that is cyclical, a time in which the world is dominated by chaos and meaninglessness. The second dimension is that of eternity, an absolute abstraction in which we try to stop time, all of which is correlated with the poetic concept of chance.

Ellen Wolf, a Danish artist who resides and works in Rome since 2012, is to exhibit a double graphic work that plays on this juxtaposition by contrasting the classic collection of moments that are precious to us and the "little relevance" given to them.

Ludovica Baldini, born in Alatri in 1993 and based in Rome, addresses this theme through the representation of the remains of a still life which makes us reflect on the concept of timelessness through sensitive observations that re-live our past sensations and moments, modifying reality at times.

Roberta Ubaldi, born in Terni and working in Narni Scalo, employs her own personal style, with a unique technique and a minimal use of colours, using iron sheets on which the rust oxidation has settled overtime going beyond the status of a mere medium to become an essential part of the pictorial work.

A digital brochure of the exhibition will be produced by Sala 1.

Sala 1 wishes to extend thanks to the Royal Embassy of Denmark in Italy.
