Statement

Mara's photographic research consists in exploring the urban environment in which she lives. Rome, its city, is a mixture of sublime and decadent. Mara loves the magnificence of its eternal light and at the same time the secret beauty of its suburban decadence.

The details of objects intrigue Mara in a special way. I look for secret microscopic landscapes in the shapes and colors of  inanimated, corrupted,  once polished and shiny matter. Decay and alteration of metals and minerals often produce evocative compositions that she tries to capture with her macro lens.

Mara also loves taking pictures of sculptures. The details and the material quality of a three-dimensional work, when caught by a close up macro shot, allow the observer a very direct relationship with the sculptor's work. Macro photography can be used as an exploration tool for spatial artistic artifacts.
